Please note that this Consulate General does NOT accept applications for visas submitted by mail. The Consulate accepts only visa submissions brought in by the applicant in person or by a family member/third party properly identified. The same rule applies for picking up the passport (this office does NOT mail back passports). Applicants who cannot comply with those procedures may use the services of a visa agency.

Tourist Visa Requirements:

  1. A valid passport showing at least six months validity from the date of intended arrival in Brazil.

  2. One Visa Application Form, per applicant, completely filled out and submitted on the website's link above, provided by this Consulate. Protocol form must be printed and picture must be affixed.

  3. One passport-type photograph, in color or black and white, front view. Sorry, but snapshots will not be accepted.

  4. A copy (please do NOT send the original) of round trip ticket/itinerary or a statement from a travel agency, addressed to the Brazilian Consulate, or an e-ticket confirmation containing the name of passenger, the confirmed itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates.

  5. For minors under 18 years of age traveling alone, please send a notarized letter signed by both parents authorizing this Consulate to issue a visa. If the minor is traveling with only one parent, the other parent must also present (or send) to this Consulate a notarized authorization for the issuance of a visa for the traveling minor. A copy of the minor's birth certificate is also required.

  6. A Certificate of vaccination against polio is required for children between ages of three months and six years. If the child cannot be inoculated, a notarized letter from the child's physician will be required.

Business Visa Requirements:

  1. Visa application/Protocol Form, filled out, dated, signed and printed out by the applicant (parents must sign for minors under 18 years old) at https://scedv.serpro.gov.br by clicking here.
    YOU MUST RETURN TO THIS PAGE to complete the process and PLACE YOUR APPOINTMENT at the end of this instructions.
    Note that: * You must complete the entire application online before you are able to print out the form with your individual protocol number; * The visa application/protocol form is valid for only 30 days from its issuance date. After 30 days, a new protocol number must be acquired by completing a new visa application/protocol form.

  2. A valid passport showing at least six months' validity from the date of entry in Brazil, containing one blank page;

  3. 1 (one) recent 2”x 2” passport-photo, front view, white background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted;

  4. A copy of a round-trip ticket or a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, confirming purchase of the ticket and passenger’s name, itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates;

  5. Applicants not applying in person must also present a proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction for the past 12 months (i.e. utility bill);

  6. Original letter (on company’s letterhead) stating employee’s name and title, contact in Brazil, description of the job to be conducted in Brazil, assuring the employee will not perform any technical work nor will be paid in Brazil, how long the employee has been working for the company, and assuming full responsibility for the applicant while in Brazil;

  7. If the applicant is self-employed, an additional letter will be required from his/her bank, containing financial references;

  8. A copy of the US Alien Resident Card for foreign residents and/or a valid visa or document to return from Brazil to the US or to another country;

  9. For filming or documentary it is required a special authorization from the “Secretaria para o Desenvolvimento Audiovisual” of ANCINE, to be obtained directly by a Brazilian partner;

  10. The Consulate may request additional information/documentation as deemed necessary.

Consular fee

  • US$ 60.00 for the visa.

  • An additional absent fee of US$ 20.00 will be charged for any application not submitted in person by the applicant or by his/her immediate family.

  • US passport holders must pay also a processing fee of US$130.00 in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a Visa to the US .
